The Dollyrots began in 2000, with founders and good friends Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas, who have been friends since the 8th grade. They were attending college in Florida, and began playing for fun. Studying biology, they gave up med school to pursue their music dream full time.

After moving to Los Angeles, in 2002, they quickly achieved success with their self released debut album Eat My Heart Out. Their unique punchy sound soon landed them their own HP commercial performing the song "Feed Me, Pet Me". They were first signed by Lookout! Records their band, re-releasing their album Eat My Heart Out in 2004. Soon after, while on the Vans Warped Tour in 2006, Kelly had the opportunity to give a CD to Joan Jett, the co-founder of Blackheart Records. The band switched labels, and found a new drummer Chris Black.

In 2007, The Dollyrots released their second album, Because I'm Awesome. They kept their unique straightforward punk sound with clever and catchy lyrics that brings out the best in Kelly Ogden's personality and playing style. They were soon seen everywhere, and were the featured band in a Kohl's commercial. Very awesome, since the "awesome" is sarcastically directed at those who only think they are. Later they promoted their single "California Beach Boy" on The Price is Right. They continued to gather awards and found their way on some of our favorite prime time shows like; The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, Ugly Betty, Greek, Picture This and many more some including guest appearances by the band. They even had a special guest appearance in CSI: NY, where they played the fictional band Rough Sects, in which Kelly Ogden played the victim, who was murdered with her own bass guitar.
They released their third album, A Little Messed Up, on the Blackheart label. Now in 2010, the band has opened for the Buzzcocks, an English punk band, during their tour of America. Voted one of the 'hottest women in rock,' Kelly Ogden is a beautiful high-charging punk goddess, who can go from growling slamming punk lyrics, to sweet bubblegum satire in the stroke of bass beat. The band’s endlessly abounding energy just took them across a grueling tour of the UK, with 18 dates in 18 days they toured alongside A and Forever The Sickest Kids; all opening For Bowling for Soup on their Just Can't Get Rid of Us UK Tour. They finished up in time for a deserving Holiday break with a show in their home area, at the Roxy in LA where they performed at the Daisy Rock Pretty in Punk Benefit with The Bangles on November 19th.
